Cannas
Giant Cannas are favorites for planting in parks and other public areas. These tropical-looking flowers thrive in full sun and heat—and their showy flowers and foliage add flair and color to gardens. Canna Lilies can also be grown in large patio pots. Canna bulbs are not winter hardy and are either dug up in the fall or grown as annuals. In zones 8-10, Cannas can be grown as perennials. Dwarf Canna Lilies grow 2-3 ft. tall and are often planted in containers and grown as houseplants. Canna Lily bulbs are planted in the spring in well-drained soil, rich in organic matter. When selecting Canna bulbs to buy, consider their height and flower color.
