Seeds
Growing annual flowers and vegetables from seeds is an economical and fun way to grow a lot of plants in the garden. Buying flower and vegetable seeds on sale is even more fun and economical. Many seeds, like bean seeds, lettuce seeds and corn seeds, are directly sown into the garden soil. Other vegetable seeds, like tomato and pepper seeds, are usually started indoors about six weeks before the last spring frost date for your area. The seedlings are then planted into the garden soil. When selecting seed packets to sow and plant in the garden, note their days to maturity. This gives you an idea how long after planting you'll be able to harvest vegetables. Other factors to consider are light and soil requirements as well as spacing in the garden.
