Seeds
Many vegetables and flowers are very easy, fun and economical to grow from seed. Flower and vegetable seeds can either be directly sown into the garden soil or started indoors. Seeds that are often directly sown include bean seeds, sunflower seeds, lettuce seeds and corn seeds. Tomato, pepper and cabbage seeds are often started indoors about six weeks before the last spring frost date for your area. The seedlings are then planted into the garden soil. When selecting seed packets to sow and plant in the garden, consider factors such as days to maturity, light and soil requirements, height and spread, as well as spacing in the garden.
