Butterfly Bush
Easy to grow, reliable and low maintenance, butterfly bushes are some of the most popular shrubs for attracting pollinators including butterflies, hummingbirds and bees. Also called buddleias, these flowering shrubs add wonderful color and fragrance to the garden and landscape when they bloom in midsummer to fall. Growing 6-10 ft. tall, butterfly bushes can be planted as an accent plant or grouped together. They are available in an array of flower colors. Not only to the flower panicles attract butterflies, they are also very showy as cut flowers. Once established, butterfly bushes are drought tolerant, and deer tend to avoid them. For the best performance, plant them in full sun.
